American rock band Evanescence was founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer and pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. After releasing independent recordings, the band broke through globally with their debut album Fallen in 2003 via Wind-up Records. Driven by iconic singles “Bring Me to Life” and “My Immortal”, Fallen sold more than 17 million copies worldwide and earned the band 2 GRAMMY Awards from 6 nominations, cementing their place in modern rock history.
In 2011, Evanescence debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and topped multiple Billboard charts including Rock, Digital, Alternative and Hard Rock Albums. After periods of touring, hiatus and lineup changes, the band continued to evolve with releases including Synthesis in 2017 and The Bitter Truth in 2021, reflecting a stylistic shift while maintaining their signature intensity. Across decades of change, Evanescence have remained a defining force in alternative rock.
